Hot on the heels of the Ajello’s ‘Kalimba Tune’, Retrospective deliver another E.P. from an artist they’ve been quietly pursuing for some time, the prolific and very talented young Romanian producer, Heion.
With releases on Los Grandes, In The Woods, ISM Recordings, Editorial, Midnight Riot, Low Slung and Gazeebo International and our very own Launching Satellites, in just the past twelve months Heion already has a catalogue to catch the eye. Progressing quickly from re-edits and sampling to solely creating his own futuristic sounds in his home studio, it’s fair to say that Heion is fast becoming a One To Watch in the Slow-Down House scene.
Both This Time & Big Fever feature Heion’s trademark sound of beautifully tuned & programmed drums and beautiful balearic vibes, poolside classics just waiting to soundtrack the sun this summer.
Remixes on this project bring another new name to the Retrospective fold in the form of Dynamicron, aka Roberto Marrero. Following a string of releases on his own LOS GRANDES label Ruben & Ra came across Dynamicron when they both featured on the Midnight Riot Volume 3 compilation earlier this year and Robert gives This Time a wonderful Afrobeat makeover.
Finally after returning from a beat digging and spinning excursion to New York, Retrospective label bosses Ruben & Ra give Big Fever a Big Apple makeover finding space for a cheeky vocal sample from the Bee Gees’ Night Fever to complete the package.
With three twelve inches out already in 2013, Retrospective are continuing to push forward the slow-house scene, keep your eyes peeled for more releases by Rayko, Fingerman, Ruben & Ra in the months to come…
