Different World – Belle Isle (KMS)

Different World (DW) is the Live/DJ duo made up of veteran DJ/producer Claude Young and Japanese producer/DJ Takasi Nakajima, himself an accomplished DMC Japanese Competitor and respected music aficionado.

Young and Nakajima met, when Claude relocated to Japan in early 2005 and the two quickly became close friends after discovering they shared a love of electronic music, hip-hop, turntablism and production. After only a short time working together the two artists were booked to perform at the Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit, Michigan, closing out the packed ‘Made in Detroit’ stage.

They continue to perform regularly in Japan, often at their own events as well as other venues throughout the country. Their live show caught the attention of Octave One, who suggested the duo take their show to the next level. So, they refined their style and developed a style all of their own, infusing old school mixing with new technology which led to a sponsorship from M-Audio Japan.

“Rapture” was their first production together, which was released on UK artist Kirk Degiorgioʼs ART label in 2011. One of their exclusive/unreleased tracks “Think Twice”, was licensed to Berghain’s resident DJ Marcel Fenglerʼs Berghain 05 mix compilation.

DW finished 2011 with an extremely impressive tour of the USA performing an 8 Hour (all night) set at the legendary “BUNKER” club in New York City, then moved on to play in Washington DC and Pittsburgh all in a matter of a few days. Their sets, frequently, feature an eclectic mix of exclusive edits of classic tracks and current works from underground artist around the globe.

In early 2012 Octave One commissioned them to remix their single “New Life” for 430 West Records. A track which featured remixes by DW, Dave Clarke & Mr Jones aka Unsubscribed. Following this remix they were commissioned to remix KMS’s (recording artist) Phil Agosta’s single “Carousel”. This mix impressed (label head) Kevin Saunderson so much that DW have now signed as artist themselves to KMS Records and their new single “Belle Isle”
