Dam Swindle – Backyard Galaxy (Heist Recordings)

Just months after releasing their highly acclaimed album Open, Dutch duo Dam Swindle wastes no time returning to what they do best: crafting irresistible, club-ready house music. Their brand new Backyard Galaxy EP, landing on October 24, 2025, via their own Heist Recordings, serves as a powerful ode to the genre and a showcase of their signature sound. This release is a definitive homecoming to the core, high-energy grooves that have made them perennial favorites.

Written and produced entirely within their Amsterdam studio, the Backyard Galaxy EP presents four potent house tracks that have already proven their worth after being road-tested throughout the entire summer season. The EP immediately kicks off with “Feel it much?”, which stands as a quintessential Swindle heater. It’s built upon warm synth pads, rich organic percussion, and deep soulful undertones. A simple yet highly effective vocal loops throughout, weaving seamlessly among classic house elements and crisp electronic textures, making its effortless flow a standout feature in their recent DJ sets.

The title track, “Backyard Galaxy,” shifts gears, channeling an up-tempo, Latin-inspired vibe while subtly nodding toward old-school techno. Sharp synth stabs and modulated vocal chops drive the energy during the build-ups, culminating in a massive breakdown and drum roll that guarantees a dynamic groove ready to ignite any dancefloor.

Flipping to the B-side, “Rhythm Baby” dives headfirst into garage territory, characterized by its shuffling rhythms and undeniable swing. While this track certainly echoes the genre’s current popularity, it remains unmistakably Dam Swindle, featuring their trademark vocal chops, transposed key samples, and infectious swing. The EP concludes on a high note with “What you give,” a track that pays direct homage to New York–style house, feeling reminiscent of their excellent remix work for Cinthie’s “Won’t U take me” on Heist. With lush organs and moody keys, this is arguably their most classic house cut in quite some time—playful, deeply vibey, and utterly irresistible.

The Backyard Galaxy EP firmly confirms Dam Swindle’s dual legacy: they are both innovative album creators and steadfast purveyors of timeless house energy. As Heist HQ perfectly puts it, “Once a househead, always a househead,” and this release proves that sentiment wholeheartedly.
