Dominik Eulberg – Lepidoptera (!K7 Records)

Dominik Eulberg’s seventh studio album, Lepidoptera, which arrived on November 7, 2025, via !K7 Records, is a vibrant artistic manifesto and an urgent ecological tribute, beautifully encapsulated within a deeply textured electronic journey. Named for the scientific order that includes butterflies—meaning “scale-winged”—this album transcends mere music; it is a profound celebration of natural diversity and a compelling call for greater environmental consciousness.

The project springs from Eulberg’s lifelong fascination with butterflies. From the thousands native to his homeland, he meticulously chose twelve species, dedicating each of the album’s tracks to musically embodying their unique characteristics, life cycles, and symbolic meaning. His composition process was liberatingly open, unconstrained by conventional electronic music genres or the demands of the club scene. The result is a body of work that seamlessly merges pulsating grooves, immersive atmospheric textures, and subtle orchestral elements, creating a signature aesthetic that is unmistakably his own.

The musical narrative begins, for example, with the small emperor moth, whose ephemeral existence inspired fragile, early percussion. The album then traverses various moods, evoking the distinctive shimmer of the purple emperor in the track “Grosser Schillerfalter” and capturing the mysterious, dark atmosphere of the nocturnal “Brauner Bär.” Throughout the release, a clever mix of ambient and rhythmic patterns mirrors the concepts of natural camouflage, playful evasion, and the complex symbiotic relationships found in the butterfly world.

Lepidoptera is conceived as a comprehensive multimedia experience. It includes educational videos by Jan Haft, visually detailed artwork by Nikolas Kuhlen illustrating the different stages of a butterfly’s life, and interactive games, all designed to deepen the listener’s emotional and scientific connection to biodiversity. Instead of a standard touring schedule, Eulberg has planned an educational outreach program. This initiative involves collaborations with scientists and artists, featuring workshops, talks, and performances in environmental education centers, all aimed at inspiring wonder and a tangible connection to nature.

Eulberg’s core purpose is crystal clear: to use his artistry as a joyful and accessible gateway to foster curiosity, compassion, and, ultimately, a genuine commitment to conservation. Lepidoptera invites its audience to immerse themselves in a fascinating world where rhythm meets biology, and artistic expression becomes a powerful form of activism.

This remarkable release is now available on all digital platforms, as a CD, and as a special 2LP vinyl edition, making it an essential listen for both aficionados of electronic music and dedicated nature lovers.
